Welcome to the Sweet Shop Bakery
The Shepherdstown Sweet Shop Bakery is housed in a 200-year-old building in the heart of Shepherdstown, the oldest town in West Virginia. Originally named Mecklenberg, the town was established in 1762 by Thomas Shepherd, a miller, who laid out the town on the banks of the Potomac River and settled it with a variety of businesses and artisans, creating a thriving community.
In 1982 Howard Butcher established our bakery and began its tradition of baking Old World style breads and desserts. Today we continue providing our customers with delicious, nutritious whole grain breads, fine cakes and pastries, and, of course, our famous Holiday Stollen.
If you are in the area, please stop in and enjoy some samples.
